Abstract
Serum lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) activity as well as the relative, distribution of heart and muscle-type isozymes was studied in pregnant women atvarious stages of pregnancy. The heart and muscle-type isozymes were differentiated by heat treatment at 60¡ÆC for 20 minutes.
Total LDH activity in serum remained within normal range throughout the entire period of pregnancy. However, the relative distribution of isozymes was markedly varied during pregnancy, and the ratios of heart-type and muscle-type isozvmes showed 2.7 at the 2nd month of pregnancy and reached a maximal value of 19.8 at the 6th month. At the 8th months the ratio again declined to the value of 8.3.
